StreamDesk is now Open Source

After much consideration it has been decided to take StreamDesk open source under the LGPL v3 licence. This will apply to all versions 2.1 or better due to new systems that are being put in place in the OSS versions.

The project page has bee setup at https://sourceforge.net/projects/streamdesk/.

This move should help with further development of the project since the code of new versions will not be shrowded in mystery but be in the clear. Also this means that other devlopers can help make the project better. So bug reports will be even more ecouraged 2.1 on and on.

Ustream Update, Version 2.0 & New Feeds

Despite the lack of news there has been quite afew changes and news tidbits...

First off the ustream embedd has been updated to latest verison.
Version 2 is now on track with afew new surprise features.
Many new feeds have been added but in the last week i added "GeeksTech,Cranky Geeks,PCMag Radio, Nick Miller Live"

Recent changes and bugs

First off yes I am aware of the The underlying connection was closed: The connection was closed unexpectedly bug... It seems to be a isolated bug that effects select machines running XP Pro and it is being looked into right now.

Next off change in the ustream embed code... Many of you enjoyed the fact that StreamDesk didn't show ustream.tv ads. Well due to recent issues I had no choice but to go to the current embed code thus the ads. Being a small time dev I don't got the funds to face any potential issues that Ustream could bring up.

I hope you fellow users can understand my position.

StreamDesk 1.1.1 for Windows

StreamDesk 1.1.1 for Windows has been released. This build fixes the chat that was broken by the irc split mentioned in previous news items.

Broken chat & other issues.

Yes i know about the broken Wyldryde chat (More noticed by Chris Pirillo fans)... it is broken due to a network split between server owners/most of staff and Wyldryde. This will be fixed in 2.0 (in active development).

Hotlinking

I've recently notice that people were downloading StreamDesk via direct linkining and bypassing the site. Not everyone understands the damange of hotlinking.

I've since applied anti-leech protection to the downloads.

Ad-free & Donations

In the time frame i've had ads on the site I have heard many people say they would be willing to donate to help suppport a site if it was ad-free.

With the re-launch of the site it has gone ad-free now now and now has a area to donate if you want. Remmeber if this product/site is to survive community support is requred since hosting/domain names is not free.
